"In Case You Didn't Know" is a vocal recorded by American state pop vocaliser Brett Immature and co-written by Young, Jay Taylor, Tyler Reeve, and Kyle Schlienger. It was released to radio on January ix, 2017 equally the 2d single from his debut self-titled album (2017).[2] The vocal has been certified iii× Platinum by the RIAA, the first song by Brett Young to receive a Platinum certification.[3]
The vocal was written in 2016 during a working trip to Puerto Vallarta, United mexican states.[4] Young co-wrote the song at the retreat with Tyler Reeve, Kyle Schlienger, and Trent Tomlinson. Co-ordinate to Immature, the inspiration for the vocal came from a story told by Peters most his wife Brandy: "[Peters] said when he was a kid, his mom would non exist the type to say "I dearest you" just he seemed to e'er know it in some fashion. Peters married his married woman in March 1998 and he wanted to bear witness his honey for her past co writing this song."[3]
In 2017, Young released a duet version of the song with Irish vocaliser Una Healy.[5]
Commercial performance [edit]
The song beginning entered on Billboard 's Hot Country Songs chart at number 45 for the week of August 6, 2016 after it was featured on The Highway in July 2016, selling 9,000 copies that week. It also peaked at number two for a record of sixteen consecutive weeks simply it was kept out of the top spot by "Body Like a Back Road" by Sam Hunt.[6] [7] The song debuted on the Country Airplay chart at number 52 for the calendar week of December 24, 2016 before its official release in January 2017. It peaked at number one for the week of June 10, 2017, making it Young's first number one hit of his career.[8] The vocal reached over a meg in actual sales by Jan 2018.[9] On April eleven, 2019, the single was certified quadruple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for over iv meg combined sales and stream units in the United States.[x] It has sold 1,263,000 copies in the The states as of November 2019.[11]

The music video was directed by Jennifer Rothlein.[12]
Young climbs out of the back of a taxi cab and, later a few backstage shots, performs the song to an empty Tivoli Theatre consisting of but his desired woman in the audience (played by Sara Morgan).[xiii] [14] [fifteen] She before long disappears, however, and the video ends as Young walks out the front end doors of the theatre and down the sidewalk into the distance.
